Lying in the Lawn

Last night we had clear skies for the Persied Meteor Shower.  The girls had heard about it, and were curious, so we headed outside around 10pm.  I lit my citronella candle and set a quilt out on the front lawn.  We live in an suburban area and the moon was full and bright.  I doubted we would see a thing.  While pointing out the Big Dipper to the girls, they saw their first meteor!  It was streaking across the bowl part of the constellation.

So, we laid down and looked up.  We stayed there long enough for the automatic light over the garage to go out, so a few minutes had passed.  Suddenly, we saw the most brilliant sight!  A bright meteor streaked across the sky, tail trailing behind!  It left us all in awe.

Over the next twenty minutes or so, we saw slower, less exciting meteors.  Most looked like dim stars, suddenly dislodged from their orbit, falling slowly to the ground.  Still, we lied, in awe.  ...Of the creation God made.  So many stars.  So many meteors.  All created by the same hands that held dirt and breathed life into man.  I'm always amazed how scientific events help solidify my faith.
